🌿 TODAY IS THE DAY — we are so excited to welcome your families to Lake Katherine Nature Center!

The early morning storm is clearing and skies are looking sunny by 9am ☀️ — it’s going to be a beautiful morning!

Gates open at 8:45am. Guided hike departs at 9am with me and Nicole Milovich-Walters representing The Village of Palos Park Office of the Mayor!

A few quick reminders:
👟🧺 Grounds will be wet — wear shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy and bring a waterproof blanket or tarp and lunch or snacks for Miss Angie’s Music, LLC closing concert at 11:30am
🎁 Arrive by 9:15am for double raffle tickets
🍎 Stop by the Whole Foods Market welcome table for free fruit on your way in
🅿️ Follow Festival signs to the main lot at Lake Katherine · Overflow at 7350 W College Dr

🌿 Rain or shine, we are SO ready for tomorrow!

All smiles with my incredible co-organizer and Calm Roots caregiver workshop co-lead, Kristine of Building Bright Futures after the rain passed during setup this afternoon at Lake Katherine — and look at that garden! 😍

We cannot wait to welcome your families tomorrow morning.

Gates open at 8:45am. Guided Family Hike kicks off right from this beautiful garden at 9am. Arrive by 9:15am for double raffle tickets! 🎁

👀 Keeping an eye on the weather tonight — if heavy rain or thunder is in the forecast for our morning hours, we’ll make a final call and send a notification by 6am tomorrow. Otherwise we’ll see you out there! Our rain date is Saturday, June 13 — same time, same place, same amazing morning.

🌿 We’re 2 days away from the Family Nature + Wellness Fest and we could not be more excited to welcome your families to Lake Katherine Nature Center!

A few reminders for Saturday:
🕙 Gates open at 8:45am — guided hike departs at 9:00am!
🎁 Arrive by 9:15am for double raffle tickets
🧳 Bring a picnic blanket and lunch (or grab tasty picnic fare from Southernish in our market) for our 11:30am closing music concert
☀️ Layers, sunscreen, bug spray, and water bottles recommended
🌧️ Rain date is Saturday June 13 — we’ll be in touch if needed

I had so much fun in the sun at Lake Katherine Nature Center this morning pulling together Family Nature + Wellness Fest welcome bag goodies - including the cutest stickers that the littles will love - with our “We Rock” Family Affirmation Workshop lead, Brittany Stevenson, LCPC of HykeLyfe. Not to mention how beautiful the lake and gardens are looking with 🌺 and 🦋 in full force. Getting so excited for Saturday!

🌱🤱 Need a cool, calm space? We’ve got you covered inside!

Our indoor auditorium is stroller-accessible and air-conditioned — a welcoming retreat any time during the morning. Here’s what’s inside:

🌱 Little Sprouts Wellness Nook — An OT-led indoor developmental play space for infants and toddlers, brought to you by Motivated OT Mama. It features age-appropriate sensory toys, developmental materials, and a nurturing indoor environment to support your little one’s growth. Perfect for babies and toddlers who need a quieter, more structured play experience. Plus free baby carrier checks and developmental screenings provided!

🤱 Nursing Nook — A cozy, private space for nursing and feeding families, hosted by Ruth Jameson PhD, IBCLC of Orland Park Lactation Care. Ruth will be on-site throughout the morning for informal support and questions. All feeding methods and all families warmly welcome!

Both spaces are right next to each other so your little one can play before or after a feeding.
