I wish I could bring you all back in time to a little over a year ago when Jen started training with me. The sweetest woman I know, but couldn’t lift more than 5lb dumbbells and had a vertical/broad “hop” of about 2inches. She was hesitant and unsure of herself with almost everything new we tried. But she never gave up, she allowed herself to trust me fully, and stayed consistent. Flash forward and she has been doing some INCREDIBLE things. Lifting 4x as much weight for all exercises, running for MILES at a time at faster paces than she ever thought she could, climbing mountains, and broad jumping FEET across my turf. She is thinner, fitter, more confident, more coordinated, and a glowing version of herself.

Jen, you deserve all the progress you’ve obtained so far and so much more. Keep laughing at yourself and know that there’s only more to come. I promise I will keep all our gym bloopers to myself 😉

Give my girl some love, folks, she’s an AMAZING person inside and out!

Strength and conditioning for the ATHLETES.

This one deserves some recognition.

Colette (in her 60s and thriving!) recently hit her 100th small group training session and at the same time, got some pretty incredible news from her latest DEXA scan:

↑ 3% bone mineral density at the hip
↑ 10.5% bone mineral density at the lumbar spine, which is now within normal limits.

As we age, we naturally become more vulnerable to loss of bone density and loss of muscle.

Age related muscle loss, or sarcopenia, becomes increasingly important as we get older. And this begins to occur in our 40s. For women, declining estrogen around menopause can also accelerate bone loss, increasing the risk of osteopenia, osteoporosis and fractures.

We can’t stop aging. But we absolutely can train for it.

Progressive strength training gives your body a reason to hold onto muscle, and resistance exercise provides the mechanical stimulus bones need to adapt and get stronger.

100 sessions isn’t just 100 workouts.

It’s 100 investments in being able to lift things, climb stairs, travel, hike, get off the floor, stay independent and keep doing the things you love for a very long time.

This is what training for longevity looks like.

Congrats on 100, Colette. 👏

👏🏼 HEATHER!!

Believe me when I tell you that this woman has one of the most positive outlooks on life, and all her experiences. She has consistently showed up, and pushed herself throughout the last year at our new location, and it shows. Throw in a little team competition during workouts and she turns into a BEAST 😜

Keep working. With you always!

Over a year ago now, I had the pleasure of becoming part of Jen and Meg’s story. They didn’t wait until life made more time for them, they just STARTED. Week in and week out they showed up, and gave their all. Now here we are… glowing faces, strong bodies, and hopefully two lives that have much added quality and health moving forward.

Meg, your tenacity is admirable not only to me, but those around you. Keep setting those goals, and fighting to get to them. Sky is the limit.

Jen, our in-house badass, who is raising three boys and doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. You made time for yourself amongst the chaos and oh how it has greatly paid off. Strong is an understatement.

Keep working, ladies. I expect to still be entertained by your sisterly bickering over the years to come.

With you to the top.

Continuously impressed by each and every one of these ladies (and all my others not in the photo). They show up with enthusiasm, and commitment on the regular. We don’t expect perfection, nor are we chasing it. Together we have created a safe space, with realistic but empowering goals set. Thank you for trusting me to guide you, and motivate you, and switch out your weights when you aren’t looking. And as always, I’m with you to the top.

Jess
