Regarding Murata Tetsu, he was formerly a senior member of the Kōga Bōtō Ichi-Mon-kai and served as the head of the Fukui Training Center. He later resigned from his position to pursue his own path, after which he was officially expelled from the organization.
To be fair, every organization has the right to establish its own rules and to remove members who no longer align with its policies or direction. That is a decision each organization is entitled to make.
What is more difficult to understand, however, is when former members are publicly ridiculed or their skills and accomplishments are diminished after they leave. Interestingly, there appeared to be no public criticism of Murata Tetsu’s abilities while he was entrusted with leading one of the organization’s training centers. His qualifications and experience were evidently respected at that time.
Organizations have every right to issue an official statement regarding a member’s departure or expulsion. However, attempting to undermine an individual’s character, reputation, or martial ability on social media serves little constructive purpose. Such conduct reflects poorly on those involved and falls short of the respect, dignity, and integrity that martial artists should strive to uphold. True budō teaches humility, honor, and respect—even in disagreement.
