🌵The rough could be a little prickly.

🏟️17 wasn’t nearly as loud as it was on TV last month.

🏝️There were twice as many bunkers as there were holes.

🐍The wildlife was sometimes too close for comfort.

Blaine Dowdy has been named the new varsity golf coach at BMHS. He will assume his new duties on July 1, upon the retirement of Coach Lisa Glisson.
“Blaine brings excitement for the game, and a teaching mindset to help young players learn a game that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives,” said Ballard Athletic Director Haley Overstreet. “We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students and the program moving forward, and believe he will ensure the continued growth of our golf program."
Dowdy graduated from Ballard Memorial High School in 2023 and was a member of the Bombers’ varsity golf team for six years. He is a junior at Murray State University, where he is continuing his education while staying closely connected to the game of golf.
“I am thankful for this opportunity, and excited to begin building something special with this team,” he said. “My plan is to build a competitive program focused on player development, teamwork, and representing Ballard Memorial with pride.”
Dowdy is employed by Grey Barn Golf in Barlow, a member at Silos Country Club, and worked for the MSU football team in 2024.
