My name is Jacinda Johnson (Coach Cindy) and I am delighted to be able to work with you or your child/children. I established my tennis career in 1996 competing through high school and two years on the collegiate level for the University of the District of Columbia. During that time period I traveled to the United States Tennis Association National event as well as the American Tennis Association
National event. In 1997 I was a finalist in many local tournaments and statewide. I carried my championship spirit through 1998 quickly climbing the state of Maryland local ranking system. In 1999 my doubles partner and I finished in 2nd place at the ATA National event. I took a break as a young adult and gave birth to my son Samonte. I jumped back on the tennis court in 2019. I have been a finalist with my mixed doubles partner in several local tournaments and we won two local tournaments. I have also been a finalist with my female doubles partner in a local tournament. In October 2022 I was a part of a mixed 18 and over adult team who were finalists in the USTA National 18 and Over Mixed tournament that took place in Arizona, Nevada. I take every opportunity to continue to learn on and off the court to stay competitive and to work on my fitness. I want to bring the excitement of tennis to you or your child/children. I have my coaching certification through the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), Safe Play certified through the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Personal Trainer Certified through International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and CPR certified through the American Red Cross. I am prepared to teach tennis by employing methods developed and adopted by the USTA called the American Development Model. It focuses on curtailing early specialization (meaning to encourage the youth to play other sports), developing multi-sport athletes (through footwork and agility), increase youth physical activity and bring fun, friendships, and skill to the sport of tennis! I will have support from PTR (Professional Tennis Registry), USTA (United States Tennis Association), and ITF (International Tennis Federation). I can’t wait to meet you or your junior athlete!
