People ask why I do crazy out of this world challenges like comedy and ultra marathons.

Here are couple things I have learned through out my marathon/ultra marathon journey that can be translated to every aspect of my life including business and comedy.

1) You will never have “perfect conditions.”

My first marathon, I did nit prep right and bonked at mile 15. My first ultra trail run was met with 16 miles of severe storms and gushing water. My second ultra was met with a perfect weather and an injured patellar tendon. It’s part of the territory.

2) All go, no show. It decent matter what you say or do you still have to cross the finsh line.

3) You will have to sacrifice, do the work, and follow the plan. Hard work is never given always earned through struggle. In business, comedy, and ultra running, I have sacrificed many personal things to accomplish these goals. Focus, Time, Resources, and Money etc.

4) Your brain will always take comfort and complacency vs being resilient. Control that little voice that always wants you to negotiate being comfortable.

5) You are now hanging out with the top 0.01% of the world who runs marathons and 0.007% who runs ultras. We all know we are all past all the levels of crazy, so expect to be misunderstood.

Just a few, always remember be grateful in the journey. Don’t be trapped into contentment or complacency. These words get people twisted into utilizing their own personal inner gifts.
