This week’s yoga theme — “Living a mediocre life is scarier than committing to your dreams.” — reminds me of both who I was & who I’m still becoming.

Before I pilgrimaged to India for five weeks solo (no tour company, yall 😅), I cried at least once a week for an entire year. My husband can attest to that. I cried. I sobbed. Not because I didn’t want to go, but because I was terrified. Terrified of traveling alone. Terrified of being alone for the first time in my life. Terrified of stepping into the unknown.

But I did it.

& to this day, it remains one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself.

That experience taught me that courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s deciding that what’s on the other side of fear matters more.

Because of India, I became stronger in every facet of my existence. It opened the door to independently exploring this big, beautiful world, connecting with incredible people, and hearing stories that humbled and expanded me. It reminded me that my reality is not the only reality.

& I share this because I know many of us are standing at the edge of something. A conversation, a change, a dream, a leap we keep postponing because it feels safer to stay where we are.

But sometimes the greater risk is never finding out who we could have become.

You are ready for your becoming.

"When I finally lose the weight, I'll join a rec league." "When I finally hit that revenue number, I'll take the trip." "When the kids are older, I'll get back to reading."

I call this the "when-I-finally" trap — and it's a trap because the finish line always moves. You hit the number, and a new one appears. You lose the weight, and you find the next ten pounds to chase.

There's a story I love about Prince. He threw a party after performing on SNL. Fred Armisen walked up to him and said, "I think you're the greatest." Prince was sitting alone, looked up, and said, "You know what I think the greatest is? This macaroni and cheese."

The guy who had everything anyone could chase was enjoying a paper plate of mac and cheese by himself. Not the platinum records. Not the SNL slot. The mac and cheese.

You don't need a bigger life to enjoy the one in front of you. You need to stop postponing it.

Things I’m doing in September to get my life back on track as summer sessions start to cool off🤣

Texting my friends back hahaha sorry, I love you guys
Taking my iron supplements
Really, for real, not eating gluten — I’m a doctors worst nightmare 🤣
Getting an IV infusion to start the month hydrated
Prioritizing my personal workouts
Daily meditation
Eliminating afternoon caffeine
Starting tax prep
Giving some time back to passion projects (my guitar, uke, Spanish study)
Prepping for Machu Picchu hike
Cooking at home

🤣😅 who else is locking back in at the end of summer? What are you doing this September? Lmk ⬇️
