Ryan Friend Fishing Welcome to the Official page of Ryan Friend, Bass Angler, on the West Coast Fishing for Life. I can't imagine life without bass fishing.

My dad, Grampa and I spent countless hours on the water when I was a kid. I fished my first tournaments before I had a driver's license, have been fishing ever since, and will probably be fishing when they put dirt on my grave. I started fishing as a tournament pro in 2012 and was hooked. There are sure a lot of lakes out there that I haven't fished yet, so the bucket list is long.

A few pics from the WON BASS Open on Lake Shasta! Great tournament that had over 150 boats show up! Typical Lake Shasta, it rained every single day and poured at times. Definitely a BUCK N’ BASS kind of derby. Stayed warm and dry all three days. Was in 61st after day one, jumped up to 14th day two and finished the event in 10th! Congrats to Nick Wood on the big win, well deserved! Also, congratulations to the top 5 for punching their ticket to next year’s Federation championship! Hats off to WON Bass and Bass Nation for providing that opportunity for west coast anglers!!! Special thanks to my wife, Amy for taking care of us all at the house and taking some amazing photos to capture those special moments on the water and at weigh in. Coldest tournament I’ve ever fished in my life. Snow and ice covered the entire boat. Was fortunate enough to catch a 6.58 lb spotted bass on Day 2 and jump from 16th to the top in the Pro-Am for the first pro-am of the season. This was a shared weight event - thanks to my co-anglers for two fun, challenging days on the water. Time to get ready for Won Bass on Shasta in two weeks!!

The Duel On The Delta, stop #3 in the Wild West Bass Trail Pro-am series came to an end yesterday. Managed a 6th place finish. Started off in 54th place after day one, made some big adjustments day two and weighed in 21.99 pounds. Just enough to get in to the “top ten” and fish on championship Sunday! The Delta was fishing tough and I was fortunate to get some key bites on days two and three. This is my first good finish on the Delta so I am happy with it!

Congratulations to Hunter Schlander for taking the win, well deserved! Special thanks to the Hurney family, Monica, Keith and the boys for always treating us like family. We always have a great time, can’t wait to do it again!

Apex event #1 was a success! Finished up 4th place and earned a nice check! Tournament directors Paul Hodges and John Stewart ran a great event for the season opener on Lake Almanor. Special thanks to Plumas Pines Resort for hosting the event, the entire staff went above and beyond to accommodate the Apex anglers! My next stop is the Wild West Bass Trail Pro Am on the Cal Delta starting this Friday. Had to re-rig everything in the boat today!

Championship Saturday morning update - weights zeroed for today so it’s anybody’s game today. Check in at 3 pm and weigh-in will be live at Plumas Pines Resort if you want to come on down! It’ll also be broadcast live as usual.
