3 years ago, Invictus was born!

The beginning of our business was one of the most high-paced and ambitious times of our lives. I had just finished the near impossible 4,000 sq roof replacement, and it was time to take care of the inside.

We did everything at once. Formed our LLC, created a marketing plan, membership systems, software selections, cleared out all the garbage that was left in the building, embarked on a massive remodel, formed connections and networking in the community, developed training programs, designed the gym layout...all in 3 weeks.

I insisted on meeting our deadline no matter what. The community was anxiously waiting for the gym to open, and although we had a mountain of work to do, the day before opening we didn't sleep and kept pushing until the sun came up and people lined up outside the door.

This video highlights all of the good times we had during our startup. These are some of the most precious and important memories to me: the excitement when we reached the 50 member mark, the endless discussions on how we can make the gym better and our grand visions for the future, and the brotherhood we formed along the way. Figuring out all the pieces of the puzzle to create systems that worked to achieve our mission.

It's OK to do bold things--you just have to have a work ethic that borders insanity. We have come a long way, but we are nowhere close to settling. 3 years is a short time when it comes to building a legacy. We've had some serious hardships along the way...but our name is Invictus (invincible, unconquerable). Even after death, the mission continues.

I miss Eric every damn day. This year in particular has been a culminating year, where so many dreams have come to fruition. Many of our current achievements are the result of discussions we had way back when we first opened. Every step forward still holds Eric's spirit.

I want to thank my entire team for making the success of Invictus possible. I can't express my gratitude enough. I am just a crazy gym bro that has been lucky enough to find a bunch of incredible people that make it happen. Here's to an even stronger future 🙌

Our new box system is actually super great!!

Box jumps are great for training explosiveness and agility.

Please be safe with the boxes and use good judgement for vertical PR's!

Today after class, something truly special and rare happened. Mike received his black belt from Professor Jason! Things like this don't happen often, and it was a blessing to experience it. Mike, we're all so stoked for you!!

Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to the ceremony today and for the beautiful words that were spoken. Moments like this solidify what we've learned in Jiu-Jitsu and inspire us all to "keep showing up". Osss!

Earning the gray belt!!

At everything is earned! This initiation was the final test after lots of prior hard work.

Ariel has been absolutely crushing her Jiu-Jitsu journey after recently winning gold at the tournament and earning her gray belt tonight.

We're super proud of all our students and grateful to see their progression!

We kept May Day Parade simple this year!

Most of the people/programs I wanted to showcase from Invictus couldn't make it (I was late on the planning!) But I'm glad we made it happen with our Youth Jiu-Jitsu and some of our adults! Thank you to all the participants!!

Donation opportunities will be opening up for our Youth BJJ program, so stay tuned for a chance to help support!

Who thinks this is acceptable? Just so I'm clear, this is NOT how we treat our environment at Invictus. Whoever left the youth section like this, you have one chance to message me and come clean, or I will find you and remove you!

Your laziness directly impacts MY staff, MY time, and YOUR FELLOW GYM MEMBERS. If that's the kind of person you're comfortable being, you are not welcome in MY DOORS.

If you see people mis-using the youth center, please tell me immediately so we can crack down on this issue. I won't stop until we do better.

(Reposting an excellent testimony of one of our members)

Hello! I wanted to share something I’m proud of that I accomplished this week ☺️

The last few years I’ve really been struggling with deep anxiety, bouts of depression, and negative self talk. I tried medication and therapy for two years, CBD, THC, anything to help me sleep and eat.

I finally decided to go back to the gym in December because nothing else was working and I set some goals.

I gave myself until June to do 1 pull up, squat 175 lbs, and run a 7 min mile.

This is about where I was at when I stopped going to the gym a few years ago so I knew it was possible, even if it didn’t feel that way the first few weeks 😅

I also wanted to gain at least ten pounds because I was dipping down to 112 lbs on some days - no bueno for my size

When I joined the gym here in Oroville I saw they had some sick merch but I felt like I couldn’t rep the gym wear unless I was going to be really committed to the cause 💪🏻 so I told myself that when I hit my goals, I would buy whatever I wanted!
(Shoutout Invictus Training Center LLC 🎉 )

So anyway, here’s me in my new hoodie, crushing my pull up goal, and doing the damn thing 14 lbs heavier and mentally doing much better ✨

I hope this can inspire someone to just go and try it out. Even if you’re just on the treadmill to sweat for 20 minutes a couple days a week- it truly helps, I promise! ☺️ (no insurance necessary 😉)
