A Faux-K features all the festivities you love about a 5K — the camaraderie, the celebration, the entertainment — but without the running. Register at thorntonparkfauxk.com. The Thornton Park District Faux-K invites you to lace up your sneakers, pin on a numbered bib, and snap a photo at the finish line — all without breaking a sweat. What better way to spend April Fool's Day than to "Just Faux K

It?" Proceeds will benefit the Howard Middle School Foundation, a 501(c)3 whose mission is to engage the community to fund and foster creative excellence and inspiration at Howard Middle School & Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. HMSF funds teacher grants, arts, and technology programs at this growing arts magnet school, which serves both zoned and magnet students from all over OCPS, including a large number of homeless and needy children. Your pre-sale ticket purchase includes admission, race bib, t-shirt*, a free drink ticket and access to this exciting event featuring raffles, DJ, sponsor tents, and cameo performances by the talented kids of Howard's Show Choir, Jazz Band, and Elite Dance Troupe. Tonight at 7 pm is your LAST CHANCE to see this amazing and funny performance of "Into The Woods, Jr.!" This is not your typical middle school play... Our talent is the best OCPS has to offer, and the quality of the talent and the incredible set rivals the professional theaters! Kids of all ages love the meeting of their favorite fairy tale characters of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Big Bad Wolf, and Jack and The Beanstalk.
