Great practice, girls, I think, had fun, but I didn't - guess who had to get 3 balls that went to the pond?
1) ladder drill, player dribbled to the ladder, stopped ball, then went through the ladder and at the end of the ladder, another ball was waiting, and the player passed it to a waiting player, who then dribbled to the ladder, stopped the ball, went through the ladder, and passed the ball at the of end of the ladder, so on and so on
2) set up ladder by goal-line, they went through it, and then zig-zagged around cones inside the goalie box, culminating at the top of 18, where a ball was waiting that they had to shoot right away
3) set up cones across from each other, side by side, 3 sets and on each set, a girl would be across another and that girl would throw the ball, the receiving girl would volley with the right foot, then the left foot, then they would move to the next set of cones, and then when done, they would switch sides
4) set up a triangle offense, and once 2 passes were made and the top of the triangle receives the ball, defense would high-pressure and their goal was to stop the shot - Madi had some great saves, but also some great shots went in - Katie also had a pretty goal
5) Scrimmaged for 20 minutes and I made the mistake of making the goal that Natalie, Clarissa, Jackie, Bella and Madi would score on against the other 8 girls - after 3 balls in the pond, I made them switch sides. The teams were designed to maximize the offensive output but to also give the defense the experience of going up against a set of girls that control the ball given their experience. MacKenzie had some nice saves against the offense.
That was it - I thought it was a great night of practice.
