Lady Cats Volleyball Does Battle With Andalusia

Opp varsity started out their match with Andalusia with a win in the first set. The next three went to the Lady Dogs as they won 3-1. Emmalee Wyatt had 2 aces, 7 kills, 3 blocks, and 5 digs for Opp. Ella Jones had 4 kills and 6 digs with Brooke Williams tallying 3 kills and 3 blocks. Shayna Wiggins had a team leading 4 blocks and Rylie Kate Thrash a team leading 13 assists to go along with 8 digs. Abree Kelley led the team in digs with 13.

The JV fell to Andalusia in straight sets with Cara Bentley leading Opp with 3 aces, 6 blocks, 3 assists and 3 digs. Kayleigh Langford had 3 kills and 3 digs as well with Brynlee Gibson getting 2 kills and also 3 digs. Allie Jackson had a team tying 3 assists and a team leading 5 digs.

In the JR high battle Andalusia won the first set with the Lady Bobcats taking the second. The game came down to the third set as Andalusia scored the final five points to win 15-11. Jaelynn Gibson led Opp with 5 aces to go along with 4 kills and 5 assists. Miley Harrison had 4 aces, 3 kills, 3 digs and Marli Ann Wyatt had 3 aces and a team leading 6 kills. Brinlee Elmore led the team with 6 assists and Chloe Johnson 9 digs. Macy McLeod added 5 digs.

OMS Football Wins Battle with Panthers

In a back and forth battle Opp stepped on defense late in the game and stopped the Panthers for a 24-13 win. Geneva scored first to go ahead 7-0. Opp followed with a 25 yard run by TJ James and a two point conversion to take the lead 8-7. On Geneva's very next play the Panthers scored on a 70 yard run for a 13-8 lead. With less than 30 seconds left until halftime the Bobcats took the lead again with a James run for 18 yards and two point try for a 16-13 lead at the break.

Defenses took over in the second half until Opp put the game away with two minutes to go. Adyan Taylor scored from three yards to put the Bobcats up 24-13 and then Jaiden Likely picked off a Panther pass to seal the win. TJ James led the way with 14 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns while Adyan Taylor also had 14 carries for 64 yards and a score. James was the leading tackler with 8 and Taylor 5. Hunter Johnson had 4 tackles and Jaiden Likely an interception.

Lady Bobcats Fall in Area Contest

Opp played Wicksburg in volleyball for the first time in eight years on Monday and although all three sets were close the Lady Bobcats fell three sets to none. Lexi Brantley led Opp with 5 aces and 3 assists. Ella Jones led the team with 4 kills and Rylie Kate Thrash led with 9 assists. Ella Presley lead the team in digs with 11.

The JV fell in two straight sets as well with four Opp players recording an ace and three more recording one kill. Five different players each had one block and Allie Jackson had 3 assists. Kayleigh Langford had 5 digs to lead the team and Jackson 4. McKayla Phillips had 2 digs.

In the tightest match of the day Wicksburg slipped past the Lady Cats winning two sets 25-23 and 25-21. Marli Ann Wyatt led Opp with 3 aces and 7 big kills. Cloie Harrison had 3 kills and Brinlee Elmore a team leading 6 assists. Chloe Johnson had 8 digs and Macy McLeod 4.

If you would like an athlete's page please let me know in the comments. For those playing fall sports football and volleyball they have a page up already.
