Five Seniors Sign For the Next Level

Earlier this week five 2026 seniors signed to play at the next level. Dawson Peacock signed to play baseball at Coastal Alabama in Bay Minette. Both Grady Patterson and Clay Kyser signed to LBW in Andalusia. Patterson signed for baseball and Kyser for golf. Carreline Spears became the first female golf player in program history to sign when she signed with Jefferson State in Birmingham. Finally LeTasia Coleman signed to cheer next fall at Troy University.

Baseball's Historic Season Ends in Semis

Opp had not played a semi final baseball game in 32 years until last week when they traveled to Centreville to play Bibb County the same team that eliminated the Bobcats a season ago in the second round. The first two games were mirror images of each other with Opp winning game one 4-0 and Bibb County the second by the same score. The winner take all game was close until a five run fifth inning by the Choctaws gave them the lead and eventually the win 8-2.

In the win Grady Patterson was 2 for 2 with a single, double, and 2 RBI. Baylor Turman homered with an RBI and run scored. Porter Nelson went 6 and 2/3 innings for the win. Opp had just four hits in the game two shut out with Parker Burgess having two of them with a single and double. In the final game Dawson Peacock was 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Cash Harrell was 2 for 4 with a single, double, and RBI. Peacock also started the game on the mound going 4 and 1/3 while Grady Patterson finished going 1 and 2/3 innings.

The Bobcats finished the year 28-8 the most wins in program history in a single season. It was also the Bobcats first time in the semi final round of the playoffs since 1994.

Lady Bobcats Season Ends at Regional

Every year since 2013 the Lady Bobcats have advanced to the south regional tournament in Gulf Shores. This year they came in as the area runner up and was tasked having to play the top ranked team in 4A Orange Beach who defeated Opp 14-0. The Lady Bobcats came back with a big win over WS Neal 7-1 to advance to day two. Satsuma eliminated Opp a season ago and did once again this year with a 19-0 rout that ended the Lady Bobcats season.

In the two shut out losses, the Lady Bobcats only had three hits. Crislyn Birge and Ryan Lanier both got singles against Orange Beach while McKenzie Henderson doubled against Satsuma. Birge led Opp in the win over Neal going 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a triple, and 3 runs scored. Henderson also had a big game against the Lady Eagles going 3 for 5 with 2 singles, a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. The Lady Bobcats finish the season at .500 going 20-20.

For the first time since 1994 the Bobcat baseball team is playing in the state semi finals. Opp will travel to Centreville to play Bibb County tomorrow and Thursday. The Choctaws eliminated the Bobcats in last year's postseason. Here are Opp's past fourth round series. The Bobcats are all 1-1 all time in the fourth round of the playoffs.

Bobcat Baseball Advances to Round Four

For the first time in 32 years the Bobcats are in the fourth round of the playoffs after sweeping a double header from Oak Grove at home last Thursday. In game one Opp used two innings to pile up seven runs and with stood a four run inning from Oak Grove to win the opener 7-5. The Bobcats jumped all over the Tigers in game two taking a 9-2 lead through four innings. Oak Grove had a pair of two run innings, but Opp won game two 9-6 to advance to the fourth round for the first time since 1994.

Parker Burgess was a perfect 2 for 2 with 2 singles, an RBI, and 2 runs scored for Opp. Cash Harrell doubled in 3 RBI and had a run scored. Porter Nelson had 2 doubles and was the winning pitcher on the mound going all 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs with 1 strike out. Cash Harrell had a monster game two going 3 for 4 with a double and 2 home runs along with 3 RBI, 3 runs scored. Grady Patterson and Porter Nelson both went 2 for 4. Patterson homered and singled with an RBI and 2 runs scored while Nelson was 2 for 4 with a single, double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Clay Jackson also singled twice. Ty Wiginton went 4 innings for the win on the mound striking out 5.
