This is what nostalgia in the making looks like.

School’s back in session, but there’s still plenty to learn outside. Here are two ideas to make your kids’ week:

#1: Surprise them with an unexpected afternoon climbing the Via Ferrata. Reward their hard work during the first few weeks of school with incredible views of Palisades Tahoe and an exciting climb (for you and for them!).

Everyone is free soloing when they ski (technically). ⛷️

After chatting with Tommy Caldwell and Cody Townsend (who we'll be having on the pod soon to chat about their recent Sierra skimo linkup), Adrian has been thinking about just how much inherent risk and exposure is built organically into ski mountaineering, and perhaps more so than most forms of rock and alpine climbing.

And the levels of loss support the theory. In this episode, we also pay tribute to a former guest and good friend, Guillame Pierrel, who was killed in an avalanche in Pakistan just a few weeks ago.

Every guest who walks into Alpenglow Expeditions meets our front desk team before anyone else.
We're hiring for two roles this summer.

The front desk position is full-time or part-time and could extend into winter. The front desk lead role is full-time and year-round, overseeing daily front desk operations. It moves with the seasons. Via Ferrata and rock climbing fill the summer. Backcountry skiing and AIARE courses fill the winter.

Both roles check guests in, shuttle them to the Via Ferrata trailhead in a 4x4 on the dirt road above Olympic Valley, and help people figure out which experience is right for them. The lead role also runs day-to-day operations, gear inventory, guide scheduling, and group sales coordination.
