So much to say here. This is a REGISTRATION related post. Registration begins tomorrow, November 15th at 6am CST.

One of the many reasons I decided to move forward and start the event Flint Hills Gravel Ride was the desire to help others. Almost immediately after announcing FHGR last November I was contacted by Joe Silva of Payne’s Promise. His words were we want to help, please let us help. I had seen the Paynes Promise jerseys but did not know the story or the purpose of the group. After meeting the family...I was all in.

The tragic end to the life of their daughter, granddaughter and friend to so many is their story to tell, not mine. I simply choose to help them move forward on the path they have chosen. Honoring their daughter MacKenzie Payne through the creation of Paynes Promise.

Paynes Promise is a local Emporia memorial fund setup to offer scholarships and other related aid to families in the area. They raise awareness and fund not just by sitting behind a computer saying, please give, please give. The family and friends are continually out in the community helping others and participating in cycling events. You will see them at FHGR in force. You will see them providing aid at one of our PitStops. You will see them riding in the event. You will see them gathered together afterward supporting each other. You will see Joe complaining to me about making the route too hard. 😛

Okay. Here's my ask of you. During Registration you will see a Donation page/option pop up. A Donation page for Paynes Promise. 100% of the donation on this page goes directly to this family. Giving these funds to others is part of the healing process for this family. I am asking you to help them heal. $1, $5, $20 or $100...please donate if you are able. We all have our personal favorite causes. I understand. Most of us though can add $5 digitally for a cause...it's digital...it's magic money...you never see it.

Rider registration fees for the 2022 Flint Hills Gravel Ride will include FHGR logo’d shirts. A change. I plan on going with Next Level Apparel in 2022. The color is tbd soon but it will not be blue. Next Level is very similar to most event Tri Blends. Example I’m 5’9” and 170 on a good day. I prefer the medium fit but after a good lunch at BobbyDs BBQ…kinda nice to have the large shirt on. 😎. Size option can be selected during riders registration.

FHGR will again offer other apparel. The choices will be sold via an online store not during registration. More on that later. Thanks!!
