🐯🔥 WE’RE BACK!! 🔥🐯

The Olney Tigers kicked off the 2026 cross country season under the lights at the Light It Up Invitational in Clinton, IL, and what a way to start!

The boys finished 6th out of 26 teams in a very deep field of 214 runners, with SIX PRs and two Tigers medaling! 🏅

This is always one of my favorite meets to start the season. The energy is electric, the competition is strong, and it gives us a great starting point for the year.

We had some runners get tripped up at the start, but they got back up and kept fighting. That’s what I want to see from this team! 💪

The 2A boys field is DEEP this year, but I’m excited about what this group can do. We have a lot to work on—especially learning to run as a pack and understanding that EVERY RUNNER MATTERS! Every place counts.

A special shoutout to our four freshmen who ran their first high school cross country race! You all did awesome, and I can’t wait to see how much you improve this season! 🐯

And for those wondering about Quaid Berger 👀 — he is resting his leg right now, and we’re hoping to see him back racing soon!

🔥 UP NEXT: The boys head to Robinson Tuesday, but honestly, it will depend on the heat as to whether we get to race. Then on September 5th, both our boys and girls will race at Carbondale High School and get a chance to check out the sectional course!

We’re just getting started, and there is a LOT of work ahead. But I’m excited about this team and ready to see what these Tigers can do!

What an incredible day for our sophomore runners at the State Meet! They showed up big time and made the future of Olney Cross Country look so bright! 🌟 Each one ran an amazing race, crushed their PRs, and gave it everything they had all the way to the finish line. While we’re sad to see the season come to an end, the memories made this year will last a lifetime. Your coaches and teammates are so proud of you! 🧡🖤

Sectional Recap

What a season it’s been for our Tigers! 🧡🖤 For our final team race of the year, we wanted to share one combined post to celebrate all of our amazing runners. Competing in one of the toughest sectionals in the state, our Tigers gave it everything they had — and we’re thrilled to have three runners advancing to State next Saturday at Detweiller Park! 🙌

So many great memories were made this season, and we couldn’t be prouder of how every Tiger raced and pushed themselves to be their very best. For some, this was their last race in an Olney XC uniform, and for others, it’s just the beginning — but the discipline, heart, and grit you’ve shown will carry far beyond the course. 🧡

🏅 The girls finished 13th out of 17 teams, competing short-handed without #3 runner Briley Kocher (illness). Even so, they showed incredible teamwork and heart all season long! 💪

Good luck to our Olney Cross Country runners as they compete today at the Sectional meet in Mattoon at Lake Land College! The girls race begins at noon, followed by the boys at 1 p.m. We’re praying for strong legs, steady minds, and the heart of a champion for each of these athletes. Regional Recap

The Lady Tigers had an incredible showing on their home course Saturday! They finished 4th out of 11 teams, advancing to Sectionals with their sights set on State.

The team also took a special moment to honor their three seniors — Josie Ginder, Briley Kocher, and Karlee Piercefield — who have been outstanding leaders and competitors. Their dedication and spirit have left a lasting impact, and they’ll be greatly missed next season. We can’t wait to see them finish their senior year strong!

Regional Recap

The Tigers hit their home course today for Regionals — a place our runners know all too well and have a bit of a love-hate relationship with. Coming in seeded third, the boys knew they’d have to battle, especially with #3 runner Tristin Butler out due to injury. Even without him, the Tigers stepped up big and earned their spot at Sectionals next Saturday in Mattoon! 💪

Cross country isn’t just about one lead runner — it’s about the team. And today, every single Tiger showed what that word truly means. They pushed through the pain, supported each other, and ran with heart. Their teamwork and determination kept the season alive and gave them another shot at making it to State!

🏅 The Tigers finished 5th out of 11 schools, with the top 6 moving on — so we’re headed to Sectionals!

• 1 team that refuses to quit

Next up: Sectionals in Mattoon – Saturday, November 1st.
This will be our toughest race of the season, but these Tigers are locked in, focused, and ready to fight for a shot at State.

It’s Regionals Day for the Olney Tiger Cross Country teams! 🐯🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The girls race starts at 10:00 and the boys at 10:45, both taking place at OCC. These athletes have logged countless miles since school let out in May, all leading up to this moment!

Grab a coffee, head out to the course, and cheer on these incredible runners as they take on some of the best competition in the state. Let’s go, Tigers! 💪🔥
