Your Comets completed their first 5K Cross Country race of the season today in Greenup County. Ariel set a new PR by a minute and the others recorded competitive first 5K times. The boys posted our first team score of the season with 82 points and a 4th place finish. Great race everyone!

First race is in the books! For 3 out of our 4 racers, this was their first XC race ever. Even more incredible is that two of our team started running with us less than a month ago! It’s not too late for others to join the fun! We desperately need more girls and we need any middle schoolers!

That one was a bit longer than I intended! Just over 6 miles in total, when I was aiming for 4.5. The horse trampled section didn’t help either, but the kids did great and we made it back on time! These longer runs will pay dividends later in the race season. Tomorrow morning, we’ll tackle the other end of the running spectrum with a track workout.

First time doing a photo scavenger hunt run. I think it was a success! Two teams of two, had to navigate to five landmarks in any order and take a selfie of them with their teammate as proof. One team won by covering approximately 4.5 miles, the second team was faster but a navigation error added another half mile, for about a 5 mile run.
