2026 SCOTS,
Today marks the end of fall camp.
For a lot of people, today simply means practice is over. For us, it means something much bigger. It means we’ve made it through the crucible.
A crucible is a place of intense heat and pressure that burns away everything weak until only what is real remains. That’s exactly what the last few weeks have been.
You’ve been tested physically.
You’ve been tested mentally.
You’ve been tested emotionally.
There were mornings when your body didn’t want to get out of bed. There were afternoons when the sun felt unbearable. There were moments when your lungs burned, your legs felt like concrete, and every muscle in your body screamed for you to stop.
That wasn’t punishment.
That was the price of becoming a football team.
Championships aren’t built under the Friday night lights. They’re built right here, in the heat, in the sweat, in the moments when nobody is watching. They’re built when you decide to take one more rep…finish one more sprint…and give one more ounce of effort when you think you have nothing left.
Every one of you heard that little voice during camp.
The one that whispers,
“Slow down.”
“Take this play off.”
“You’ve done enough.”
“Nobody will notice.”
The difference between average and great is learning to silence that voice.
And when that voice got loud, I watched something special happen.
I watched teammates pull each other forward.
I watched players encourage someone who had nothing left.
I watched leaders emerge.
I watched brothers refuse to let another brother fail.
That’s football.
Not the touchdowns.
Not the interceptions.
Not the highlight films.
Football is choosing someone else’s success over your own comfort.
Because one day this game will end for every single one of you.
Nobody gets to play forever.
But the discipline you built here…
The accountability you learned here…
The toughness you discovered here…
The brotherhood you created here…
Those things will stay with you long after your last snap.
Now hear me…
Fall camp is over.
But our work is not.
Everything we’ve done up to this point has simply earned us the opportunity to compete.
Nothing has been won.
Nobody is going to hand us victories because we had a hard camp.
Nobody cares how tired we were.
Nobody cares how many up-downs we ran.
Nobody cares how much we lifted.
The only thing anyone will remember is what happens when the lights come on.
So don’t let everything we’ve built stop here.
Keep stacking days.
Keep choosing discipline over comfort.
Keep holding each other accountable.
Keep demanding excellence.
Because when adversity hits—and it will—I don’t want you searching for toughness.
I want you to remember this camp.
Remember the heat.
Remember the sweat.
Remember the pain.
Remember the moments when you thought you couldn’t take another step…and then you did anyway.
That’s who you are now.
You have already proven that you can endure.
Now it’s time to prove you can finish.
Men, I believe in every one of you.
I believe in this football team.
I believe in what we’ve built together.
Now let’s honor every drop of sweat we’ve poured into this camp by playing with relentless effort, unwavering discipline, and complete trust in one another.
When people ask what makes Ben Lomond Football different, the answer won’t be found in our uniforms or our helmets.
It will be found in the way we fight for each other.
Love y’all and proud of y’all!
