The origin of the Paso Fino horse has been settled by science. 🧬🐎

For years, there was debate about the lineage of this incredible breed, known for its smooth, rhythmic four-beat lateral gait.

In 2022, a genetic study conducted by the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez uncovered the definitive truth: the Paso Fino originated exclusively from the Puerto Rican Criollo horse.

The study confirmed there is zero genetic contribution from South American Paso horses.

Pictured here is Dulce Sueño, widely recognized as the founding sire of the modern Paso Fino breed.

His pure lineage helped establish the signature step that Paso Fino foals naturally exhibit from the moment they are born.
