Four teams finished their seasons last weekend.

17U combined with 16U McDowell and went 2-2. Day 1 we had a heartbreaker after a 23 point comeback. Day two we powered through with 5 players. The final Defenders game for Kobe and Wiggy was a victory.

16U Lovely also went 2-2 with some tight losses. They had a lot off time off between tournaments, but still compete hard every game. I think most of these guys will be headlining their varsity rosters for the next 2 years.

15U Girls let their final game slip away. It was tough to end that way but we played one of our best games of the season. The biggest thing about this team was just getting that game experience. In almost all of our tournaments, there were no Gold Silver Bronze brackets... just everyone in one pool. So we struggled against good experienced teams. I really hope these girls come back next season. They are all ready to take that next step.

Another crazy weekend of basketball for our groups.

15U Boys 0-2(Couldn't play Sunday)
17U Boys 2-2 5 players all weekend! Thanks 15U Grant for giving us a sub Saturday and 13U Jaydan for a few quality minutes in a close win today.

13U Girls 3-1 2nd place. 11 game win streak ended in the championship.

This weekend was the busiest in Defenders history. Six teams played in June Jam.

17U Boys 2-2 3rd place
16U Boys Lovely 3-1 2nd place
16U Boys McDowell 0-4 3 close games
15U Boys 3-1 3rd place
15U Girls 0-4
13U Girls 4-0 1st Place

Now that all 8 Defenders teams have played in tournaments, here is a quick season update!
The good:
2 Tournament Champions
25 Victories
All Teams have a plus minus between -10 and +10, meaning we are signing up for the right level of competition.

The bad:
1 Broken wrist
4 foot/ankle injuries
2 Forfeits(first in our history) due to 3 injuries on one team.

We honestly don't put much value in our win/loss record as a whole. Our goal is to win 1/3rd of our games, be outmatched 1/3rd of our games, and play in close games 1/3rd of our games.

Currently we are 7-9 in games decided by 5 points or less. In past years we have been winning 70%+ of those close games. So it is time to put the work in and prepare to compete in every game!

I am truly interested to see how these numbers change. 14 tournaments down, 27 to go!

Defender Basketball Boys had a good weekend in Lincoln. Still working at getting better and some of our teams in their first tournament of the season.
17U - 3-1 2nd place
16U Lovely- 2-2
15U - 3-1 3rd place
14U - 4-0 1st place - 3pt game winner in the championship
13U - 1-3
