What an unforgettable week at the Granny Basketball LeagueTournament in Ackeny, Iowa! 🏀❤️

From kicking things off with Christmas in July (yes...the incredible food was just the beginning!), to three days of intense competition on the court, this tournament was packed with laughter, friendships, and memories we'll cherish for years to come.

When the final buzzer sounded, the fun didn't stop! We spent time exploring the beautiful Bridges of Madison County, enjoyed a visit to a local winery Madison County Winery, and made even more memories with an amazing group of women who prove that age is just a number.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every volunteer, organizer, host, sponsor, official, family member, and player who makes this incredible event possible year after year. Your dedication, generosity, and passion create something truly special.

Sorry we've been a little quiet this week! We arrived safely on Wednesday and kicked off the fun by celebrating Christmas in July on Thursday at our amazing Airbnb. Dinner that evening was generously provided by Cheryl D. J Whidby and her better half, Shirelle—thank you both for your wonderful hospitality!

Friday through Sunday, we had the privilege of competing against incredibly talented Granny Basketball League teams from across the country. Our coach Travis Johnson elevated us to be true competitors and we couldn’t be more pleased with his guidance and leadership.

We won some, lost some, but more importantly, we came home with unforgettable memories, new friendships, plenty of laughs, and moments we'll cherish for years to come.

A BIG shoutout to the gals of the Modesto softball
team, (who showed up to scrimmage with us - with very little notice), our faithful fans, and all the sponsors who made this season possible! We are thrilled to share we went undefeated the entire season!

Now it’s time to focus on Granny Basketball League nationals. We will be sure to post videos of the games and will share a link to follow our progress while at Nationals.

Update. Today, the Columbia Gold Diggers Granny Basketball Team have dropped out for our scheduled scrimmage on Sunday.

We never want to disappoint our fans and sponsors - so we are planning a fun scrimmage, despite this last minute decision.

Looking forward to seeing you all at 1 PM, Sunday, June 7th at Valley Home school!

Okay everyone! This is it. The FINAL competition before Granny Basketball League nationals in Iowa. We will be hosting a scrimmage vs the Columbia Gold Diggers Granny Basketball Team on Sunday, June 7th at 1 PM. Come see what the hype is all about.

We appreciate the support of our friends and sponsors (sponsor acknowledgment coming soon!) we will be rolling them out individually as we count down the days until Nationals.

Great day of Granny Basketball League basketball. THANK YOU to our gracious hosts Granny Basketball California Poppies and to the Columbia Gold Diggers Granny Basketball Team for joining in on the afternoon of fun. Some very exciting games and the Broncos are pleased to have closed out the official season undefeated.

On to Nationals. But BEFORE that - we’ve got a scrimmage lined up. Details coming soon.

THIS SATURDAY!!!! May 30th. 3 games, starting at noon, with The Oakdale Broncos, Columbia Gold Diggers Granny Basketball Team and us, The California Poppies. Our charity this year is Center For A Non Violent Community a group that does fabulous work to help individuals and families in our community. This will be our final League play for the 2026 season, before we head off to the Granny Nationals in Iowa! Admission by donation to CNVC.
