EXCITING NEWS!

Shelby Barbee will have her high school softball jersey retired on Oct. 2 in a special recognition during halftime of the Varsity Football game vs. Anson.

Following the conclusion of her collegiate softball playing career this past spring, Shelby was selected by the WSHS Special Recognition Committee to receive this honor.

Shelby was a versatile member of the West Stanly HS Softball program from 2018-2021 during an impressive run that saw the Colts accumulate a 76-4 overall record and capture the NCHSAA 2A state championships in 2019 and 2021.

After HS graduation, she spent three years at the University of Virginia, earning her undergraduate degree and being selected Third Team All-ACC during the 2024 season. She then transferred to UNC and excelled in her final two college seasons, starting over 100 games for the Tar Heels and rounding out her playing career in 2026 with an impressive campaign that saw her record a .348 batting average with 15 home runs and 62 RBI.

We hope you will join us on Oct. 2 to recognize Shelby's incredible accomplishments to West Stanly and the game of Softball!

Memorable playoff trip to West Stokes on Friday for our Lady Colts! Thank you to everyone in our softball community who gives so generously to help our softball program provide the best possible experience for these talented ladies!

From donations that went towards a charter bus to provide comfortable transportation, to those who organize and provide pregame/postgame meals, to those even willing to provide manual labor to help keep our facility looking fantastic, our community is the very best!

Our program will be hosting Game 1 of the best two-of-three western regional championship series on Tuesday at 7pm. Even more people will volunteer their time in the concession stand to provide an enjoyable game environment and important resources for our booster club.

A big thank you to every person and family who supports this program in any fashion. It takes a village, and we can’t help but think we have the very best. See you on Tuesday!
