We meet every Wednesday 2-5 PM in Palo Cedro 96073!
Ages 8-16!
Learn primitive survival Skills, play Nature Games and connect with Nature, Ourselves and our Community.
Streams not Screens!
I want to give thanks for the beautiful land and creek we are generously able to use for our classes. My co-teacher Lucas all the great kids and some moms and Dads who also join in the fun!
Let me know if you’re kids are ready to not only survive in nature but to survive in this techno era where kids are so often lost in their digital media!

Earth Play
Giving Thanks for a great Acorn Leadership Team of young teenagers who help to teach, share and keep things fun. We work on a system of tiered mentoring. Everyone gets to do some teaching and sharing, creating young leaders with a love of nature and hope for our future.
This week we explored the land finding wild edible and medicinal plants, and some of the animals and birds and insects that live there.
We made some pine nut beads from the ghost pine trees and Played some nature awareness games keping things fun and exciting and we tied it all together with string using some of the ancient skills of cordage making.

Earth Play
With the spring blossoms and the wild turkeys our new home for Ancestral Skills is a beautiful 50 acres at the confluence of two creeks in Palo Cedro CA.
I feel thankful to be invited to bring kids together in the joy and challenges of primitive and simple living skills and the fun and excitement of nature awareness games. They are fired up!

Welcome to the New Year
Village Building
Today
Our Acorn Team celebrated the new season by coming together and peeling some poles for our village, practicing our bows and arrows and throwing sticks. Starting a friction fire with 2 sticks and cooking some deer meat on sticks.
We came up with some exciting ideas for the next season and look forward to teaching classes again with the Charlotte Mason Home School.
We will also be offering some more in depth skills classes on some Saturdays in the “Village “ We will be turning “Deerskins into Buckskins” using a natural smoke tanning process.
Workshops will be based on interest, available time and good instructors.

Ancestral Skills and nature connection with the Charlotte Mason homeschool class

Today we did some nature adventure games with the younger kids The older kids found some freshly dropped Grey pine cones with seeds and we made some beads and dog bane cordage! Tying our group together. Owen brought some ground and leached Acorn meal he made and Luke shared his hunting story about his first successful deer hunt!
These kids are inspired focused and fun.

Ancestral Skills and deep nature connection home school groups.
Fall is a time of abundance and this year brings an abundance of Acorns! The kids were excited to find so much abundance and are looking forward to some Acorn bread or acorn mush!
The older kids were exploring the land and finding their sit spots and making maps so they could find each other’s sit spots.
Great sharing with these inspiring kids.
