It’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later!
My time with the Northville Mustangs is coming to an end. I grew up in Northville and graduated from NHS way back in 1994. I have spent 4 years coaching with the very first boys program in school history starting back in 1997, and 9 years with the girls hockey team. Finishing off with an unforgettable State Championship playoff run, the first hockey state championship of any kind at NHS. To say I bleed Northville Orange and Black would be a major understatement. I love this city, this school and especially this TEAM! However, now the time has come to move on. I have been given the opportunity to start my own team in South Lyon, the city I now call home. The city where I started my family. Where my kids have grown up.
My love for the game of hockey brought me here, but my love for all of my players, past and present kept bringing me back year after year after year! I have met so many wonderful people through this team. It’s hard to put into words what each and every person from this team means to me….
I won’t be with the team on a daily basis anymore, but I WILL be seeing everyone at preseason conditioning, maybe a few shared practices, games head to head with my new squad, and DEFINITELY at Coach Paul’s 8th Annual Winter Classic during Christmas break!!!
I started the team social media pages to bring awareness to our team. To pump up our players. To celebrate these amazing human beings. I also wanted to help us be seen, so we could bring in more players and more quality people. I think it worked. I’ll be handing the socials back to the team, and I know it will continue to tell amazing stories!
To wrap this up, I want to mention my old buddy, Coach Conor for bringing me in 9 years ago. Also, Coach J. Lee who has been my best friend since we were 9 years old, Coach Ben, who has become a great friend through this team. Barts, Jenna and Ryder, to name a few. Have all been such a big part of my life and I’m forever grateful to have you all in my life. This has been one heck of a ride, that I don’t want to get off of.
To all of my former players, I meant what I said that I am ALWAYS here for each and every one of you. I am only a phone call or a text away, whenever you need me.
