Village dam removal, Washington, Maine. It took us many months to achieve this one goal.

Through our efforts, Alewives were allowed to pass through an improperly installed culvert in Waldoboro and return to their original spawning grounds.

We will keep you posted with our progress.

The MEDOMAK BROOK CONNECTION in Washington, Maine, in partnership with the LLOYD DAVIS TRUST in Waldoboro, Maine are a small but dedicated group of individuals working to restore Alewife runs along the Medomak River and its tributaries. Alewives once flourished through these water courses but obsolete mill dams, ineffective culverts, et cetera, have diminished their runs. We are committed to returning these water courses to the Alewives to allow them to reach their original spawning grounds and flourish once again.

Alewives complete ecological cycles, such as providing food for other fish, Eagles, Osprey, and Loons, and when allowed to return back to their spawning grounds can very quickly change the ecological balance of nature in fantastic ways!
