W-SSOC club meeting at Mast General Store

516 Trade St NW, Winston-Salem, 27101

September 10, 2026 at 6:00 pm

Please note: We will be starting this meeting at 6:00 pm instead of our usual 6:30 pm!

We are excited to be returning to Mast General Store for our club meeting this month! Will and his team will be sharing some of the new and exciting things they have available for outdoor fun!

After the meeting, we'll plan to walk to a nearby restaurant (TBD) for dinner and drinks

Friday Morning Easy Bike Ride!!!

Meet at the tennis courts on Salem Avenue (next to the traffic circle on Main St), ready to ride by 9 AM. We'll first head to Salem Lake. Easy to moderate pace (9-12 mph; 3-4 mph on the ascents!). Approximately 14 miles round trip. Upon return, anyone wanting to add another 3 miles can ride to Marketplace Mall and back. Lunch afterward at a venue t.b.d.

Club Meeting

Friday, July 17th at 6:30 pm

Southern Drift Brewing Co (aka Radar Brewery)

216 E 9th Street, Winston-Salem, NC

Come out, unwind, have a beer/wine, and hang out with club friends!

As of today, there is no scheduled food truck, but they are working on it! I will send an update later this week if one is scheduled! If not, we can make a plan! There are excellent restaurants nearby! Pizza delivery is always a delicious option, or you can bring something there!

Several of us went to the Marketplace Movie theater to see ‘Michael’ last night. It featured his early life, his dysfunctional childhood and his rise to the King of Pop. It was excellent and made you want to get out of your seat to sing and dance!

Weekend Details

Reminder: Damascus-Whitetop side of the Creeper Trail is completely closed

Friday Biking: VA Creeper Trail (Damascus-Abingdon side)
Friday Happy Hour: Back-side yard at Dragon Fly Inn
Saturday Biking: To avoid the shuttle traffic riding Abingdon to Damascus, we will be riding the Mendota Rail Trail about 35 minutes away.
We will be starting at Mendota parking lot which is more scenic (& hopefully easier:) than where we started last year. (www.mendotatrail.org)
Stop at Nicewonder Vinyard Tasting Room in Bristol on the way back (they serve food)
When returning back to Damascus, stop at one or both local breweries
Sunday Hiking: Grayson Highlands State Park
Sunday Dinner: in Sparta at the Mexican Restaurant on the way home

Attendees can do as much or as little with the group as they want.
Please let me know if you are going - I will be sending updates via text.
Meeting times for Saturday & Sunday will be decided closer to the weekend or Friday night - weather will be the deciding factor.

The Mendota trail is under active development with half of the trail now open from trailheads located in Bristol, Virginia.
