Why Guessing Isn't a Strategy:
What Our New InBody Scanner Means for Your Progress

If you've trained with us for any length of time, you know I'm not big on gimmicks. I don't chase every new machine or trend that shows up on Instagram. But when we brought in our InBody scanner a few weeks ago, it was because I kept running into the same problem with tracking progress and success with our members— and honestly, with myself.

You can do everything right. You can hit every session, eat well, sleep decently, and still step on a bathroom scale and feel like nothing's happening. The number won't budge, or worse, it goes up, and you start questioning whether any of it is working.

Here's the thing: the scale can't tell the difference between fat, muscle, or water. It just gives you one flat number and lets you spiral from there. That's the exact problem the InBody solves.

➡️ What the InBody Actually Measures ⬅️

In under a minute, standing on the InBody gives us a full breakdown of what your body is actually made of, including:

- Skeletal muscle mass— are you building it, maintaining it, or losing it
- Body fat percentage and mass — not just "weight," but what kind of weight
- Visceral fat level— the fat around your organs that matters more for long-term health than most people realize
- Body water balance — useful for catching dehydration or inflammation trends
- Segmental lean analysis — muscle balance between your left/right arms, legs, and trunk, which is huge for catching imbalances before they turn into injuries
- Basal metabolic rate (BMR) — roughly how many calories your body burns at rest

You get a printed report at the end, with all of this laid out in plain language, not just a jumble of numbers.

Why a Baseline Scan Matters Before You Even Start:

I always tell people: you can't track/manage what you don't measure. A baseline scan gives us a real starting point — not a guess based on how you look in the mirror or what the scale says, but an actual snapshot of your muscle, fat, and water levels on day one.

That baseline becomes the foundation for everything we do together. If you're coming in wanting to lose fat, we now know exactly how much fat you're carrying and where. If you're chasing strength or muscle gain, we can see your current muscle mass by limb and track whether your program is actually building it symmetrically. No more designing a program based on assumptions. And no more feeling down because you aren’t seeing change on a scale.

Why Re-Scanning Every Few Weeks Changes the Game:

This is where the InBody really earns its keep. Most people quit or lose motivation not because their program isn't working, but because they can't “see” that it's working. A rescan every 4–6 weeks gives you undeniable proof of progress, even when the scale is lying to you.

I've had members lose zero pounds on the scale over six weeks and gain three pounds of muscle while losing three pounds of fat — a total recomposition that would've looked like "no progress" on a scale, but is actually a huge win. Without the scan, we'd have no way to show that. With it, you walk out knowing your training is working, which keeps you coming back.

It also lets us catch problems early. If your visceral fat isn't moving, if your muscle mass is flatlining, or if there's a growing imbalance between your left and right leg, we can adjust your program before it becomes a bigger issue or an injury.

How We're Building This Into Your Training-

Here's how I'd recommend using it if you're serious about tracking real progress:

1. Baseline scan when you start a new program or goal
2. Follow-up scan every 4–6 weeks to track trends, not just single data points
3. Use the InBody app to store your data, help track even more measures and even give you a plan to follow.
4. Review session with your coach after each scan, so the numbers actually turn into program adjustments — not just a printout you glance at and forget

One scan tells you where you stand. A series of scans tells you a story — and that story is what actually keeps people accountable and motivated long term.

Are You Ready to Get Your Baseline?

If you've been training with us and have never seen your actual body composition numbers, I'd genuinely encourage you to get your baseline scan. It takes less than five minutes, and for a lot of people, it's the first time they've had real data instead of a guess.

Scans are $40 as an add-on to your membership. BUT FREE for your first one if you have an unlimited membership and you’ve never had one at Bare Fit 👏🏼

Call or text Tonya at 870-219-3464 to get yours booked today. I think once you see the report, you'll understand why I got excited enough about this thing to blog about it.

See you on the scanner.

Real talk: you can lose zero pounds on the scale and still be making massive progress. 💪

Lost fat + gained muscle can cancel each other out on a scale — but it's a huge win for your body.

Without real data, you'd never know.

That's exactly why we added InBody scans.

Blog post going up this week with everything you need to know (link in bio soon).
