🚨 Adding an 18U tryout for girls playing midweek HS games 🚨

In addition to the 8-18U tryouts on June 24 and July 1, there will be an 18U-only tryout on Sunday, June 28.

Please note that both Wednesday tryouts are at CYSP, and the 18U-only tryout on Sunday night is at Penn Meadows (meet at the concessions pavilion in the middle of the park).

What a season for our 9U team ⚓️ The growth they showed as players, young women, and peer leaders is special. It was a test from their first hits off kid pitchers in the fall to adjusting for every pitch in the circle, around the field, and at the plate as the season carried on. To play among the top 13 teams in 9Open at the State Tournament was a challenge that they met head-on. We're proud of the steps they took together and the successes they earned throughout the season in their journey as young athletes.

STATE CHAMPS 🏆 The 12U Iowa Kraken earned their way to a 12B Gold fastpitch championship in Des Moines after going 5-0 in bracket play. They took their game to new heights as the season went on, also winning the Clipper Classic in late May and prepping themselves for the big stage in the state capital. Congratulations to these special young women, their coaches, and families!

It's time to prepare for the 2026-2027 Iowa Fastpitch Softball season! The Iowa Kraken are 8U through 18U youth softball teams competing in eastern Iowa in the fall and spring.

On June 24 and July 1 at Coralville Youth Sports Park, players will be evaluated on key attributes (speed, hitting, throwing, fielding, attitude, and softball IQ). The tryout will consist of a brief warm-up period, hitting, fielding, baserunning, and pitchers & catchers exhibition (9U & above).

To register, email Iowa Kraken directors, Robert & Jeni Gaffey, at [email protected] the following information:
• Child's Name
• Birthday
• Parent/Guardian Name
• Softball Experience

Tryout fee is $20 via Venmo (-kraken-softball), cash or check. Tryout fee is waived for returning Kraken athletes.

Cornshucker Duel on the Diamond Champs! 🥇
The 9U Kraken went 4-0 on the day with a last inning comeback in the championship game to earn the title. Game tied 3-3, 2 outs, full count — and got it done!

A strong start to the season for the 12U Iowa Kraken! They earned a second-place finish 🥈 at the Cornfield Classic in Fort Madison this past weekend.

After two impressive wins in pool play, the team advanced to the championship game for a tough rematch against the Quad City Lady Hitmen ‘13—whom they had defeated earlier in the day.

Plenty to be proud of and even more to look forward to this spring season! 🥎

Night 1 of tryouts in the books ⚓️ We enjoyed a record turnout of more than 50 inspiring young women and their families across 8U, 9U, 10U, and 12U fastpitch softball. These girls CAN PLAY and one thing is for sure — the future of softball is very bright in Iowa 🥎
