Yesterday, our team selected the leaders who will wear the title of Captain for the 2026 Triad Cardinals Football Team.

This honor wasn’t give, it was earned.

These five young men have consistently done the things that leaders do this offseason. They showed up. They worked. They held themselves accountable. They put the team first. They led by example long before anyone voted.

Being a captain isn’t about having a title. It’s about serving your teammates, setting the standard every single day, and leading our program in the right direction through both adversity and success.

Congratulations to our five captains De’Von Minor, Wyatt Smith, Landon Tomlin, Duncan Funderburgh, and Blayk Thomas. We are proud of what you’ve accomplished to earn this opportunity, but your greatest challenge begins now. Continue to lead with humility, toughness, discipline, accountability, and a team-first mindset.

The future of Triad Football is bright, and we can’t wait to see where your leadership takes us.
