Pitching Shines as Tri-Town American Legion 19U Defeats Willimantic 3-1⚾️

Strong pitching and timely defense propelled Tri-Town American Legion 19U to a 3-1 victory over Willimantic on Wednesday.
Both teams received outstanding performances on the mound, but Tri-Town's staff proved to be the difference. Shawn Sinni earned the win after tossing five solid innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five and walking three.
Tri-Town jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Nicholas Devlin delivered an RBI single to left field, and another run scored on a Willimantic error to give Tri-Town a 2-0 advantage.
Willimantic's Joe Beaudry was impressive despite taking the loss, pitching a complete game while allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits. The right-hander struck out three and walked four over seven innings.
Evan Mailloux closed the door for Tri-Town, throwing two scoreless innings of relief. The right-hander did not allow a hit, struck out three, and issued no walks to earn the save.
Trevor Turner, Devlin, and Julian Lawrence each recorded a hit for Tri-Town. Devlin and Mailloux drove in one run apiece, while Tri-Town used aggressive baserunning to swipe six stolen bases. The defense also turned a key double play.
Willimantic was led offensively by Eli Coulette, who collected two hits in three at-bats from the leadoff spot. Andrew Eldridge drove in the team's lone run, finishing 1-for-3, while Cisco Alvaiado added two stolen bases.
Tri-Town American Legion 19U returns to action Thursday when they host Willimantic in the second game of the series.
