Alpha Martial Arts Academy Alpha is a family-oriented school, teaching authentic, traditional martial arts. In 2003 Mr. & Mrs. Mr. Rollinson supervises all martial arts training at Alpha.

Alpha has been teaching students the value of respect, discipline, integrity and perseverance for over 20 years. Master Jung, Un Hak founded the school in 1988 upon his arrival from Korea and trained thousands of students. Rollinson took over as Director of Programs, and expanded the curriculum so that we now offer Black Belt programs in Goju Ryu and Kobudo. Every class is taught by Instructors ce

rtified by Shidokan International according to the highest standards of excellence. The facilities at Alpha are clean and spacious: 4,500 square feet with two rooms for training and a homework center for our students who are enrolled in our After-school Martial Arts Program. In the main area there is enough room to accommodate in-house tournaments, rank promotion testing and birthday parties, in addition to its primary function as a place of training. Our Instructors offer training to students of all levels, ages 3.5 to adult. Alpha students may also be invited to take classes in traditional Okinawan weapons.

Quick rundown of the ranks we use and their meanings. Dan (pronounced don) means degree or level and is the suffix for Black Belt rank student over the age of 16. Joshu indicates a youth or junior Black Belt. While the -Ho suffix means the rank is probationary for the next 1 to 2 years. The degree count up from 1 to 10 in Japanese: Sho, No, San, Yon, Go, Roku, Nana, Hachi, Kuu, Juu. The minimum amount of time between Joshu ranks is 1 year while the minimum amount of time between Dan ranks is equal to the next rank, for example the minimum amount of time between Nidan and Sandan is 3 years.
