We say it all the time, but Rise Up really is so much more than basketball.

We love this game and we’re grateful for every opportunity it gives us, but basketball has always been a tool. A tool to serve our community, build relationships, disciple young people, and most importantly, share the Gospel.

Every year hundreds of kids come through our doors, and we have some incredible men and women who show up, pour into them, and genuinely care about their lives.

Every time we have a night of baptisms, it gets me. Watching these young people publicly profess their faith in Christ reminds me why we started this in the first place.

We love basketball, but basketball isn’t the mission. Jesus is.

Just incredibly grateful God continues to allow us to use a game we love to reach people in a broken world.

Week 2 of our Junior NBA League was a success!

We’re incredibly grateful for every volunteer who continues to show up and serve these kids. Because of you, we’re able to give young athletes an opportunity to compete in a more challenging basketball environment, grow their game, build confidence, and learn what it means to lead both on and off the court.

But what happens here goes far beyond basketball.

Every week, these kids are being served, encouraged, prayed over, and given the opportunity to hear the Gospel. That’s what Rise Up is all about using the game we love to invest in the next generation and point them toward something greater.

We’re only two weeks in, and we’re excited for everything still ahead this season.

What a way to kick things off! Our first Jr. NBA × Rise Up 3v3 League games brought the energy! Kids competed, played hard, got better, and left it all on the court.

But this is bigger than basketball. Every game gives us another opportunity to invest in kids, build relationships, and minister to families in our community.

Rise Up Hoops is so much more than basketball. Each week lives are changed, bellies are fed and yes kids get to hoop. Above all that they hear the Gospel and have an opportunity to respond. Last night we had our monthly baptism where we baptized 2 long time Rise Up kids, 2 kids gave their lives to Christ and 4 more signed up for baptism next month. God is good!!

Yesterday’s Rise Up Hoops Camp welcomed 215 kids into the gym, and we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our community.

More importantly, over 200 kids heard the Gospel, and 30 made the decision to follow Christ. There is no greater victory than that.

Throughout the day, kids grew in their basketball skills, many fell in love with the game for the very first time, received free meals, free haircuts, and school supplies as they prepare for the new school year.

At Rise Up, our mission is simple: to change lives for the better by using basketball as a tool to share the hope of Jesus Christ across the Lowcountry.

To every volunteer, coach, sponsor, church partner, and supporter who made yesterday possible thank you. Your generosity and willingness to serve are making an eternal impact.

Wednesday Rise Up Hoops Recap

An incredible night together at Charleston Southern University. Over 200 people in the building, united by basketball, community, and a purpose that’s so much bigger than the game.

Grateful for every partnership, every conversation, and every opportunity to invest in the next generation. This is what it’s all about building relationships, strengthening our community, and making the name of Jesus known.

We’re excited to invite everyone out for our Rise Up Hoops × Jr. NBA Draft Day tomorrow, August 1st!

Registration will officially close at Draft Day, so if you haven’t signed up yet, tomorrow is your last opportunity.

Come out and enjoy a great day of basketball with us! Food trucks will be on site, and every player will go through an evaluation so we can build balanced teams based on skill level, creating the best possible experience and a fun, competitive season for everyone.

We can’t wait to meet all of our players and families and kick off what we believe is going to be an incredible season. See you tomorrow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Thank you Live 5 News for coming out and sharing what God’s doing in the Lowcountry.

A Charleston-area nonprofit held a basketball event for local children at Charleston Southern University, bringing together college athletes, free food, and conversations about faith and life.

What an incredble night last night. God is so good! Over 200 people got to hear the gospel last night, be prayed for, hoop and be fed. Big shout out to Charleston Southern University Buccaneers for hosting us and allowing us to have our Rise Up Hoops night at their field-house. Thank you to everyone that volunteered last night.
