Tom started off our fall season taking this excellent billy on his mtn. goat hunt.
After getting stuck in town for several days waiting to fly out to the hunt area, we finally made it out in a narrow weather window. We spent the first day hiking up above treeline in the rain and fog. The following day found us in goat country with clear skies. Part way through the morning we spotted this billy over 1 mile away and watched him bed just below the ridge line. After we made our way across the valley and back up the ridge that he was located on we came in above and spotted him slowly feeding away from us without presenting a good look at him or a shot. He slowly fed his way into a small copse of stunted spruce on the mountain side disappearing from view. After working around trying to find him again and then sitting on the ridge for 7hrs trying to wait him out we decided that with only a couple of hours left before sunset we would make our way down and try to locate him from below. As we arrived at the base of the ridge below where he was last seen we spotted him leaving the cover he had occupied most of the day. We were able to approach under cover of alders and terrain and get Tom within range enabling him to bring down his trophy billy with a single shot.
