From Coach Jason Fulton:

I had the pleasure of playing baseball for Coach Jones from 1989–1992.
We won the regional in 1992, definitely one of the highlights of my high school career. Coach Jones was a true inspiration and a great baseball man. His knowledge and love of the game helped so many who came through his program.

Coach Jones was always quick with a story or one of his many squeeze bunt strategies. I was very fortunate to coach alongside him in 1997 when we won the Apollo Conference. Coach helped lead me in the direction of coaching, with many lessons learned along the way.

Coach Jones was a great mentor to me, and his influence can still be felt in Newton Baseball today. His legacy lives on in the players he coached, and the coaches he influenced.

Newton Baseball is better because Coach Jones was a part of it.

Coach will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Cathy, Nicole, Billy, and Tessa. ⚾️🧡💙⚾️

Congratulations to Newton 2028 Quincy Fulton. He will play for Team Illinois at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games this week.
Also shout out to St. Anthony High School’s Charley Spour, 2027. Charley was chosen to play in the Senior Future Games.
The Future Games are a premier national event.
Effingham and Jasper counties both have a lot to be proud of. We know both of these boys will represent us well!
