I’m making things and they are getting put up in my web shop (see link in bio). I got this whimsical hedgehog fabric on a trip to Japan last year.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it!

Next up on my inkle loom I wanted to add some level of difficulty. I have lots of rayon thread on spools that I’m not using so wanted to see if I could make a band with them. If it works then maybe I have a way to use up my un-used rayon threads.

To make one strand on the warp I looped the color 4x. I have 100 threads wrapped, and it’s very slippery thread. Already I see several mistakes. But, it’s a good learning lesson and I might experiment with things as I go along since I have about 7 feet more to play with. Play is good.

My third band is now started on the inkle loom. While I work on this one, I will start figuring out tablet weaving which I can also do on this loom but which will make more complicated designs.

Anyhow, so far so good without having any instructions on how to copy designs I’ve seen in real life.

My first inkle band is finished and I’ve set up the loom for my next. So very satisfying to make and see this next band develop.

Yarn arrived yesterday and trying out something new. Never used or warped an inkle loom before.

I have no idea what I’ll do with this band when finished. That doesn’t matter though. The process and the possibilities are the main focus part. I’ll figure out a use for it eventually.

Haven’t done any drawing recently, but since I was recently in Japan, I was inspired to continue.

The big vat is an old lacquer pot.

More bowls, more colors. This project is fun because I get to play with all the colors in my fabrics. And there are so many more combinations to try!

They’re still not on my website, but I have taken pictures. One step closer to actual listings.

It was time to work with purples and this is what I made from 20’ of wrapped cord: a medium sized bowl and a coaster.

Working with my hands (and color) gets me and my mind in a happy place. Making art and being creative are acts of resistance. Make this world a better place.
