Thank you to Newton Country Club for a fantastic awards banquet for the Newton Golf Program. A huge shout out to Jen Armstrong, as the Booster Club Queen, helped to put on a wonderful event. My seniors will be greatly missed: Caden, Devlin, Haley, Nick, Nick, Tamara, and Tommy. Thank you to Mr. Z, Coach Pete and Miss Julia for all your help and support. Thank you to Mr. Vince Cruz for making us look pretty! Parents, thanks for raising such a wonderful group of people! The Newton golf family continues to grow each and every year! I could not be more proud of all we’ve accomplished, and what’s to yet to come! So very proud to be called the Coach of this wonderful group of people! You all make being a BRAVE extremely special! Go Newton!!!

Nice day for the Braves in their final tourney of the year, and some their careers at High Point Golf Club for the Sussex Cup. Newton placed 3rd overall out of the 11 teams in the tournament. JT Kurilko finished tied for third with a 78. Jack Youngs shot an 81, both Nick Deiorio and Nick Kurilko shot 85s and Caden Armstrong shot an 88. Devlin Schmidt shot an 84 playing for Hopatcong! I am so proud of these, watching them grow up. All year, they’ve carried themselves with integrity, honesty and wonderful work ethic. Thank you for all the time you put into golf for your teammates, yourself, and selfishly me! I so appreciate it! Go Braves!

Strong end to a wonderful regular season! The Braves took to their home course as a visitor vs Pope John and came out on top with a 164-175 victory. The team was lead by Nick Deiorio’s 39, Jack Youngs’ 40, JT Kurilko’s 41 and Nick Kurilko’s 44. This win brought our overall record to 17-8. Even more importantly, we were able 8 times to avenge a loss by beating our opponents the second time around. That means, we beat everyone on our schedule. The season didn’t quite start off the way we wanted, but this group kept battling. Ending our regular season on a high note. Now, Tuesday, our goal is to win the Sussex Cup! If we play our game, we’ll do it! Go Braves!!! You’ve made me very proud!

Big comeback win today for the Braves! The Newton golf team had an impressive day on the course! Avenging a crushing loss to Wallkill Valley yesterday by beating them by 8 strokes today. Led by Nick Deiorio’s 38. Nick Kurilko had the round of his year with a 39! Great comeback Nick! Jack Youngs carded a 42, Caden Armstrong a 43 and Devlin Schmid a 44 and got a sick new headcover. JT lost his 8 iron during the match, so check lost and found for us please! We were also able to avenge an early season loss to Roxbury by winning today by 12. Boys NJACs tomorrow! Go Braves!

Can’t say enough about Haley Morodan! As always she battled today at the NJAC Championships at Farmstead! She overcame a difficult triple bogey, and finished with a 42. This tied her for 4th overall out of 60 golfers. I can guarantee that if this was an 18 hole tournament she woulda battled to top 3 finish, because that’s just who she is! Haley you are such a wonderful human, and I kinda want you to stay back so we can have you lead us again next year! So proud of you! Keep fighting every step of the way!

Congrats to the Lady Braves on a closely fought match vs Wallkill Valley today. The match came down to the final score entered, as the Braves edged the Rangers 223-224. Haley led all golfers by 9 strokes with a 43. Julianna shot a personal best 57 and Maya a solid 48. Kayla wrapped up our scorers with a 64. Meg, sorry you missed the pic! Coach Z was like Mario Andretti racing those ladies from hole to hole with his tunes rocking the fairways! Great day ladies! Haley battles the best of the NJAC tomorrow at Farmstead! Keep making us proud!

Another great day for the Braves!!! With Mr. Z snoring on his couch, the Lady Braves took down the once mighty Vikings by a score of 230-239. The gals were led by Haley’s 46 and Luci’s 58…Luc thanks for staying for the pic and forgetting your backpack! 2-0 without the negative aura of Coach Z!! The boys got by on track with a 169-189. Nick Deiorio, JT Kurilko, Jack Youngs and Caden Armstrong were 1-2-3-4 in the match. Little fyi: notice how someone was kicked out of the boys pic…that’s what you get for not following directions! Huge week next week! Two tourneys and 3 days of tough matches! Keep working hard!

And down goes Sparta! Congrats to both the boys and girls golf team as we took down the Spartans! Nick Deiorio and Jack Youngs led the Braves to a 160-162 victory with match leading 37s! Imagine if we made a Birdie putt ND! And it took Coach Z being home sick for the Lady Braves to pull off the upset! Haley Morodan dominated with a 46 and bagless Kayla Dione (thanks Jeo) and Tamara Taylor came in 2nd with 59s. What a day! Girls battle Randolph tomorrow as the boys play High Point. Great day to be a Brave!!!
