First race of the season is in the books for Gabe Baker Racing! We made the haul to Airport Speedway in Delaware to shake things down before our opener at Linda’s this Friday—and it paid off.

We battled a tight car in warmups, but my crew stayed on it and made the right adjustments. The car improved every time we hit the track. We started 5th and finished 5th in the heat, which lined us up 9th for the A-Main.

Early in the feature, we were able to avoid a wreck and pick up a few spots. On a restart, we drove up to 4th and the car really started coming alive. Unfortunately, we had a little too much gearing for the track conditions and slipped back to finish 5th.

All in all, a strong start to the season with a Top 5 finish. We learned a lot and know exactly what we need when we come back.
