Well the 2026 East Coast Meltdown at Coastal RC. Indoor Speedway and Hobbies is in the books and Im super happy with the results and how awesome the event was.
I ran Intermediate 17.5 2WD and 13.5 4WD for the weekend with my new Schumacher chassis.
Friday practice went well as i only was able to have a few hours due to work but the layout was super fun and technical especially the waterfall feature.
Saturday qualifying was rough as yet again due to work missed out on rounds 1 and 2. Luckily I was able to make it for the 3rd and final round of qualifying.
2WD qualifying went well as I was able to stay mostly consistent but still would qualify all the way at the back of the pack of the B sort due to missing the first 2 rounds.
The 2WD mains for Intermediate is where it got really interesting. On the tone I was able to quickly pull up from the back to the top 3 and stay for majority of the race and quickly pulled it up to 1st after to not only secure the win in the B-main but also make the transfer into the A-Main. The A-main was where the show really kicked off as I started at the back of the pack but by the end of the first lap was sitting second and a couple slips here and there would have me bounce around the top 3. But the 8 minute main it would ultimately come down to clean driving, battery management, and keeping a cool head. I was able to pull into 1st by the 5:30 mark and keep it there till the end for the win.
4WD was another show as it was also an 8 minute main where the same principles for 2WD would come into play. Starting dead last on the tone I was able to make it through the traffic in the first turn bringing me up to 2nd. Where I would Battle it out with Alex Roach for quite a while until ultimately his low voltage detection kicked in ending his run allowing me to come up to first amd hold it for the remainder of the race where I would bring home the win. Alex drove his buggy really well and I wish our battle could have continued all the way to the end as he's come along way in his own program in these last few months.
The event this year was an absolute blast and im super thankful for everyone that came out and supported the race and helped with track prep. This truly is an amazing place to be with amazing people. Thank you to Barry Schimmel and the rest of the Schimmel family along with all of the offroad track crew for an amazing layout and help for prep for the event. None of us would have a place to race and hang out without yall and im truly truly grateful that Coastal is my home track as I couldnt ask for a better place to be.
It was such a great time with my Locked-In Racing teammates this weekend as we all were helping each other out and pushing each other to stay on top of it all weekend. Another huge thanks from Kevin Crowling for helping out and getting us ready for the weekend, he's the glue for this team and Im super happy that I get to be a part of this team.
