What inspired you to join Peak and how long have you been a member?
I was inspired to join Peak because I wanted to improve my physical strength. The past few years were filled with many challenges on a global and personal level. While I am grateful to God for having been able to endure those challenges and grow in my inner strength and resilience, prior to joining Peak, I was completely out of shape. So, I joined Peak because I wanted to get back into shape and grow stronger so that my outer strength would match the inner strength I’d developed.
I’ve been a member for 5 months and I am thankful to say that today I am now stronger - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually - than I’ve ever been before!
What is your favorite part about taking Peak classes?
There’s so much that I enjoy about these classes! I enjoy the fact that when I come to class, the only thing I need to fixate on is doing my best on the exercise in front of me - all of life’s other responsibilities seem to fade away! I also enjoy being outside, getting fresh air, and, of course, the people! It’s been encouraging to get to know other members and coaches and be in an environment where everyone is supportive.
What are your hobbies outside the gym?
Outside the gym, I enjoy spending time outdoors (e.g., hiking, rollerblading, anything involving water), reading, and being involved with my church.
What is your profession?
I’m currently finishing up my final year of grad school! I’ll graduate in August with a Ph.D. In Rehabilitation Science and plan to do a post-doc in Cancer Prevention and Control. Very broadly, my research centers on improving the delivery of person-centered care and assessing quality-of-life outcomes in neuro-oncology populations.
Fun fact:
I'm a dog mom! I have an 8-year-old lab/pit mix named Bea!
Anything else you want your peers to know?
I'm a huge fan of Survivor! If you watch the show, let me know - I love talking Survivor! PSA: Season 42 is currently airing and is only 3 episodes in, so even if you haven’t been watching, you can get caught up! :)
