Most of you know I have complex PTSD. That means a lifetime of layered trauma: domestic violence, financial abuse, homelessness, system failures, raising a special needs child, and losing an adult child. My body has lived in survival mode for as long as I can remember.

But I’m still here. Still healing. Still rising.

If you're clawing your way out of trauma too—please know: your progress matters. Leaving toxicity is brave. Building a life after pain is sacred work.

Abuse effects people deeply; please read-

The stages of narcissistic abuse: 1. love bombing and fantasy ideology 2. Gaslighting, remaking reality 3. Emotional addiction and isolation from friends & family 4. Criticism and devaluation 5. Loss of self 6. Ultimate dependency 7. Resigning to control 8. Emotional & spiritual death 9. Possible Physical death

Please know and understand the signs. My son has just endured the culmination of abuse by a narcissistic person. He was being isolated from friends and family who tried to help, guide, and protect him; he was being manipulated and lied to and gaslit; he was devastated by a false miscarriage and all that entailed; he was being controlled and sleep deprived; and now we have lost him completely.

For your children's sake, know the signs, and educate your children about them. Make sure they understand the red flags of relationships and have a good model to follow. I knew the signs, his family and friends saw these signs in the relationship, but none of us could stop what was happening. The hold on him was too great. He wanted the fantasy she spun for him.

Taking back your life after abuse can feel and be just as scary as when you were in it. You have to do hard things, learn new ways, be brave with your thinking and actions.

The unknown is scary, but it is absolutely better than staying where you are unloved and traumatized. So on your journey forward, take time to congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come, acknowledging your resilience in what you’ve overcome, and for being brave enough to save yourself.

You can do hard things- you’ve proven that. But these hard things you are doing now are worth it. Taking back your life is a courageous act. You are a warrior. Don’t give up.
