With deep sadness I have to report that my beloved Sifu J.C.F. Shamburger has passed on! His influence on myself and many others will never be forgotten. His mark was surely left in my DNA. He was a friend to me, a brother to me and the best father figure I ever knew. I will do my best to help carry on his legacy with his family and our extended Ohana. I can still hear him say "get a haircut" or "keep the sunny side up cowboy". His hand will always be on my shoulder to guide me as I guide others. The Chinese Hawaiian Kenpo Academy will go on with its Bamboo Gods and Iron Men thru our Ohana. Thank you Sifu for all that you have shared and I know one day we'll be back on that beach practicing Kata. I love you and miss you!- Dre

Hi everyone, a short story; years before I ever knew what Karate was, my uncle had a book he let me borrow and I was to young to even understand what I was looking at but I couldn't stop looking at the pictures! That book was Karate: The Art of Empty Hand Fighting written by this man pictured-Hidetaka Nishiyama. He was a student of Shotokan founder Gichin Funakoshi! I'm hoping my uncle will be gracious enough to let me have the chance to read it again. The things we take for granted in our youth...
