The 2026 ORBRR Series rolls on with its second stop - DOWNTOWN.

From the narrow streets of Chinatown to the winding blocks of the West Village, through SoHo, the Lower East Side, Two Bridges, and beyond, this race rewards more than speed. Every turn is a decision, every block presents another option, and the athlete who reaches the finish line first is often the one who best understands the streets beneath their feet. Plan wisely, move decisively, and see if you can find the fastest way through Lower Manhattan.

Race Date: Friday morning, June 26th, 2026
Start Time: 2:00AM
Format: Check Point
Start/Finish: DOWNTOWN
Distance: +-9 miles
Race HQ: None - we will meet in the street.

2026 OSRBRR DOWNTOWN: i call it “The Garbage Truck Problem”.

In this photograph, two athletes arrive at the same obstacle at nearly the same time. Both need to make a decision. Go left. Go right. Slow down. Commit.

REGISTRATION: orchardstreetrunners.com

The difference between first and second place is often measured in seconds. Sometimes those seconds are earned not through fitness, but through problem-solving.

In an OSR race, you’re not just competing against other athletes. You’re competing against the City itself. And some nights, the City throws everything it has at you. Garbage trucks. Construction. Crowds. Delivery vans. Closed gates. Unexpected dead ends.

Every obstacle forces a decision. Every decision creates a consequence.

That’s what makes these races so compelling. Victory is rarely the result of a single brilliant route or even the fastest runner. It’s the result of hundreds of small choices made under pressure, in real time, while moving through a city that couldn’t care less that a race is happening around it.

The path to victory is not a line drawn on a map. It’s the sum of every decision made along the way.

Sofia Camacho once again delivered, finishing the plus-or-minus 7-mile route in 39:46, good for 1st in the Non-Binary category and 5th overall out of 300-plus athletes.

RESULTS: orchardstreetrunners.com

Alongside competitors like The Paradox of Causality, Liam Eli, and jordan caroompas, Sof has been showing up for the Non-Binary field for years, helping build real representation, real competition, and real momentum.

When we opened the Non-Binary category in 2022, it was small. It still is. Last Saturday, we had four Non-Binary athletes out of 350 registrants. To some, that might not seem like much, but all things start small. A small field does not make it any less meaningful, and it does not make us any less committed to providing that space within OSR.

We’re grateful to Andrew Kyle (1:05:58, 2nd Non-Binary), who edged out Chris Burris (1:05:58, 3rd Non-Binary) by just 0.80 seconds, for being part of this event as well. Thanks to Sof, Liam, Jordan, Andrew, Chris, and others, the momentum is real. The field is still small, but every year more athletes find it, and every year the competition gets a little deeper. That’s exactly how something meaningful gets built.

We are just getting started, and I’m excited to see where it goes next.
