Long Island University is proud to celebrate LIU Spirit—our unified Cheerleading, Dance, and Mascot Team featuring Finley the LIU Shark—after capturing its fourth consecutive national championship at the 2026 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship.

Competing in the Open Spirit Program Game Day Division, LIU Spirit earned the national title on college spirit’s biggest stage at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

LIU Announces Athletics Hall of Fame Centennial Class 🦈
Long Island University alumnus and celebrated sportscaster Alan Hahn '93 will both host and be inducted at the Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony on March 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Brooklyn Paramount.

The Centennial event honors LIU's most distinguished student-athletes, coaches, and championship winning teams, including Olympic medalists, NCAA champions, professional athletes, and other exemplary figures in sports.

The Long Island University Men's Ice Hockey team topple powerhouse University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (Big Ten) with a 6-2 Victory on the road! 🏒🦈

Six different Sharks scored goals in the program's first-ever meeting with the five-time national champions and their 13 current NHL draft picks. This marks the third Big Ten victory (second on the road) for the Sharks with previous wins over Notre Dame and Ohio State in the 2024-25 and 2022-23 seasons.
