Growing up, my best friend’s mom Nancy introduced me to the New Orleans art world.
She took me to my first concert — Bob Dylan on Tulane’s campus. She brought me to gallery openings at the Contemporary Arts Center.
On her bookshelf sat a biography of Peggy Guggenheim — a woman who called herself an “art addict” and became one of the great patrons of the 20th century.
Not because she was the richest person in the room. Because she believed in artists completely, and showed up for them.
Nancy’s New Orleans felt like that city. A place where art wasn’t a luxury — it was just the texture of life.
That’s what we’re trying to build with Crescent City Stage. And today, on GiveNOLA Day, you can be part of it.
Be a patron. Show up for New Orleans artists. Help us reach our $15,000 goal by midnight tonight.
