Fit Coach Carmine Coach & Athlete. Training for 2023 NYC Marathon to fundraise for Alzheimer’s research. Link Below Hello , I’m Fit coach Carmine.

My path towards coaching has been a lifelong journey. Human movement has always been a theme throughout my life. It began with Karate and baseball as a young boy, which progressed into me becoming a city champion wrestler as Junior in High school. However it wasn't until I suffered an injury that ended my high school wrestling career as a prematurely, that I began to take an academic approach to

Movement. Upon entering college my Goal was to be an English teacher. However after finding myself repeatedly writing up programs, workouts for individuals, as well as practice designs for my rugby team, I realized where my true passion lied. So I began to position myself to be an educator in a realm where my talents would be best utilized, best suited to serve others. Fast forward 10 years; having experienced with many different modalities has formed a philosophy rooted in the idea that human movement is crucial to not only physical but mental health as well. Humans are at the top of the food chain by combining both the physical and mental components of our being in unison; to stop now would be self limiting. Moving Towards a focus on “fun and play” opposed to “work and pain” is a paradigm shift I welcome you to be a part of.

“I’m not sure if what we are doing is crazy or not.”
The words of during his 17th mile didn’t really hit me until a day later.

Your mind can go into weird places over the course of training for anything worthy your best. Some weeks you feel great, and other weeks you will find yourself asking why put yourself through this.
The truth is, any worthy pursuit in life is going to require sacrifice, and even suffering.

When I decided I was going to fundraise for Alzheimer’s research this year, I knew the goal could not be just finishing the race.

So I made goal of this Marathon shaving off over an hour from last year, and beyond that, running a Boston qualifying time. It scared me, but I think our goals should make us a bit uncomfortable, especially when doing it in the name of a bigger purpose.

Going to the drawing board for 12 months, with the hopes of dialing it all in for 3 hours on one somewhat random day, is a bit crazy. However remembering my why has been something that has helped keep me disciplined. Being able to move is privilege not everyone has.

Thanks again for the wooka!!! 7 weeks out!

“Fatigue makes a coward of us all.”

30 minutes or so into Grappling training yesterday , I Felt the chains of .patdavidson Mass program holding me down. I cannot say I was not warned, but now there is no avoiding it.

I laid down like the photo above during the 30 second rest between rounds for the first time in 3 months.

After training with me 3-4 times a week the last 3 months, thought something was wrong. “Carmine are you okay”

I replied “ yes, I’m just actually tired.”

My philosophy when it comes to conditioning for wrestling/ grappling has always been the idea that :

“ I will drown myself, and my opponent, let’s see who comes up for air first.”

3 weeks of 16 in the books. I will continue to force my own head under water for the next 13 weeks.

You can be assured I won’t come up for air until the deed is done.

I was fortunate to be cowards captain of that program for two years. It was my first opportunity acting as a “coach” in any capacity, as we had no forwards coach.

Unfortunately my senior year I suffered multiple concussions which had a significant affect on my cognitive abilities. Many people didn’t realize this, but my best friend and room mate all 4 years did, and told me it was pretty noticeable after the fact.

I appreciate the opportunity I had at Siena, and if any of the guys from the class below me were negatively affected by my “checking out” mentally my senior year, I apologize.

Hope to see many of ya’ll in May.

Thanks for pulling out this gem. This was literally my 2nd or 3rd time training BJJ, when I was still on a two week trial. 5 weeks later I did my first tournament, In a submission only format.

I lost my first match after 13 minutes. 10 minutes later I won a 17 minute match that went into triple overtime.

A month later I sprained My UCL at another tournament, which shelved me for like 6 months.

I didn’t think I would still be a white belt now, but between getting injured, changing schools, and life adjustments made for my career, I am happy to still be training and look forward to what 2020 will bring on the grappling front.

I have also decided regardless of my belt, I will no longer compete in the Beginners division for No-Gi. I will also be bumping up to welterweight.

Life is crazy. Frank you were a great dude. Waking up to hearing you passed on Monday Is not what I expected. I have been searching for words to say all week but have been at a loss.

While our time together was short, your were the first membership team member to ask me about Mike Boyle. I genuinely looked forward to building with you in 2020, but here we are. May you Rest In Peace peace, and your may your family find that same peace themselves.

The best way to honor those no longer here, is to make our time mean something to others. This is what I intend to do.

The dude with the long hair did this, not me. But I killed him. Which begs the question, what can I do in 2020?
