To get everybody to get vacation at the same time, is not easy. But very thankful that we were all able to put life on hold to take this trip🙏🏽
Aruba, you were absolutely beautiful and amazing! 20 pictures does not do this trip justice- I could’ve posted over 100! 👌
The “happy island” lived up to its name and then some! clearly family time is the best time! ❤️

I often say that it is a privilege to be able to do the things that we do as triathletes. I can’t think of too many other situations where you will be in a setting like this. 🙏🏽

This was the start of our Triathalon yesterday going into the water right around 6am🌅 .

I can only describe the start as a mixture of excitement, reflection, and amazement at not just the athletes around you, but the beauty of a setting like this one. Mother nature gave us one hell of a backdrop yesterday morning! 🙌

You can’t see me but I’m in there somewhere 😂 and while we may all look the same entering the water with similar wet suits and similar swim caps, each one of us has our “why” . That “Why” can drive you to do amazing things. So for a second, consider looking for your “why” and finding something you thought you would never accomplish. Trust me it’s worth it! 👌

Other than posts, I haven’t been posting much racing wise because quite frankly, I haven’t been racing at all!
But that doesn’t mean that the work was not happening.

Those cold days of getting up early to head to the pool, 🏊🏻‍♂️🏊🏻‍♂️those seemingly long boring bike rides indoor on a trainer, 🚴🏻‍♂️🚴🏻‍♂️and the occasional run when there was no ice out, 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️all of them were happening all winter long.

Yesterday’s “Mini Might Man” triathalon was definitely not a rust buster, because for me, there was not rust to bust. It was more of a barometer to see exactly what the winter work had yielded.

The end result was satisfying:
*6 minutes faster than the same triathalon last year.

*Almost 3 minutes faster on my swim alone.

*Over 3 and a half minutes faster on my bike (Avg 23.8 mph vs 19.5mph)

The only thing slower was my run and that’s because I admittedly didn’t run that much this winter because of all the ice. But you know what, that just means there is lots of room for improvement in the running category as we head further into the season!

*Icing on the cake is a 3rd place finish in my AG and 40th overall. Last year was 7th in AG and 94th overall. Not bad for a 51year old 😂😂

Remember – age doesn’t mean you throw in the towel and accept complacency. You can still get stronger, faster, and feel better than ever before!🙌🙌

A big thank you to my .legion
teammates for their support and their presence in the race. Slapping high fives or giving head nods on the course gave me a boost each time! Thanks to several friends who came out to cheer also. It was cold and rainy yesterday but I left Eisenhower warm and electric and ready for more this season!
