One year to the day since we lost the greatest man I'll ever know.
These pics are from 2007, when we were able to take Dad to the NY Yankees Fantasy Camp. It was something he'd wanted to do for a long time, but because of the exorbitant cost, he willingly sacrificed his desire to do as he always had - make sure that we (the entire family) were taken care of first. He always put us before himself.
So, at 69 years old, we were able to give Dad the experience of a lifetime, and one that he so richly deserved and earned.
Watching Dad become a Yankee, if just for a week, was a highlight that I'll always cherish.
On the final night, they awarded him the Catfish Hunter Award for best representing "The essence of Yankee Pride and Tradition." All the attendees gave him the standing ovation that could have just as easily been in honor of the type of man he was.
That word - Pride - is exactly what I've always felt for him, and always will.
To be there to witness this moment was an honor and a privilege, and I'll carry that memory with me for the rest of my life.
To my Dad, who's legacy will live on forever - thank you so much for knocking it out of the park as the greatest father a son could ever hope for β€οΈ
