A couple of our NYSS instructors ( and ) decided that they needed some West Coast Waves. So they packed up and headed out to California.

Another great day of waves!! Summer is still here! 78F, water temp 72F. At the early part of the clip, you can see the bait fish jumping out of the water, being chased by a larger school of fish, with dolphins feeding on both schools!!

Tomorrow is the annual surf contest in honor of great Rockaway guy, great surfer, firefighter, Richie Allen. Richie paid the ultimate price on 9/11/01 helping fellow New Yorkers get out of the Towers safely. This crew has been surfing since there 8-9 years old! Here they are 2019. And swipe right for pics of past events. I think the categories are Boys 15 and under and Girls 16 and under. There’ll be a paddle out in honor of Richie after the finals.
