Interest research! A survey of 2,000 Americans’ habits and opinions on video games found that:
- Approximately 75% agree it’s more socially acceptable to play video games now than it was just five years ago
- 56% believe video games should be included in the Olympics
- 56% indicated it takes more skills to play video games than contact sports
- 54% believe esports will eventually overtake contact sports in society
- The top five skills respondents believe video games enhance are (1) concentration, (2) hand-eye coordination, (3) ability to problem solve, (4) strategy skills, and (5) memory
- 66% self-identified as a “gamer,” and 49% of respondents over the age of 40 think of themselves as a gamer as well
- 66% of respondents said they play games on their smartphones, and 58% play video games on their computers
- 55% indicate they look for someone who shares their same passion when it comes to dating
