Florida has completed what officials describe as the largest child-recovery operation in the state’s history.

Over five days, law enforcement agencies recovered 163 missing children, ranging in age from just 2 months to 17 years old, during Operation Statewide Shield.

The operation was led by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, with children recovered across Florida and beyond.

Authorities said some of the children had reportedly been victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or human trafficking. Those recovered were connected with medical care, social services, child-welfare professionals, and victim advocates.

Multiple arrests were made, and officials say additional arrests could follow.

Behind every number was a child who had been missing.
