There’s always this false narrative that Black and Brown people/communities don’t care about their health or are inherently unhealthy. Yet here we are. Here we are fighting for basic necessities. decided to destroy the bars by cutting them off instead of unscrewing them, so now they’ll have to rebuild the entire setup. How long do you think that’s going to take and how much more is it going to cost? Sounds like a waste of taxpayer’s money to me! We are a community that is health conscious. The best way to beat any sickness is to boost your immune system. Vitamin D production from sunshine and exercise creates a strong immune system. What does make us sick is the lack of care we get from the very doctors that are supposed to help us. The implicit/explicit biases that exist within the health care system. The flooding our neighborhoods with fast food restaurants and targeted advertising. If you’re really concerned about our health fix this park! No more hemming and hawing. Stop gaslighting the people with excuses. The science is there, fitness makes you healthier overall. And once again, no other park in the city suffered this same treatment. Why is it so easy for you to treat our neighborhoods like this? We vote, we pay taxes, we are your constituents and we are calling on you to fix this quickly. Much gratitude to for shining a light on this issue. Please sign the petition in my bio and share this story.
